Mephisto Women's Helen Sandals - Blue Star Metallic Leather Comfortable Walking Shoes for Travel, Beach & Summer Outfits

Update: I wanted to update my review after wearing the sandals for straight four months last summer. After slightly traumatic start, they were great! Super comfortable and they held well. The leather and the sole still look like new! I did try to avoid wearing them in the rain as I heard that moisture causes the cork sole to crack.Old review: I don't know what to say yet. I really like the style and the quality of them. the Silver Venise is lovely and quite bright. Looks lovely with jeans. I'm worried, however, that I will not be able to wear them as they did quite a number on my feet by the end of the first day. I didn't find the toe loop uncomfortable, but it was the top straps that rubbed the skin off my feet. The leather upper does seem really stiff and I wonder if it will get softer with wear. This is my first pair of Mephisto sandals but I've been wearing Birkenstock Gizeh for a few years now and am aware that they need to be broken in. Once my feet heal a bit, I'll try wearing these again but right now it's a bit painful.this is a great shoe. this is my 5th pair. same size. i'd give 5 stars if these weren't uncomfortable. :/if they dont get more comfortable, my rating will drop to a 1, and i will send them back.this time/order a couple of things, one cosmetic, the other a comfort issue...the leather straps are backed with paint-- making them not soft but stiff with hard edges that are scratchy. it makes me wonder if the straps are some kind of consolidated leather now, and not the regular soft suede of yore? perhaps it'll soften up... it better or i'll have to send back.the other small cosmetic detail - the buckle used to be bright silver that resulted in minimal contrast with the upper material of the silver v. i chose -- now it is anodized, or dark, and stands out as almost black, which ruins the tonal continuity of the shoe and makes it look more like a bad fashion accessory or piece of hardware. this critque is perhaps a bit OCD for some.otherwise, the footbed and general design remain a solid exceptional standard.The Helen foot bed works so well with my feet. I wear these sandals all the time and have no problems with my feet.I LOVE these shoes. These are replacing ones that the upper finally ripped. I had them resoled. I have 6-8 pairs of this style in different colors. I live in AZ so can wear sandals often and these have such great support I can walk miles in them.I highly recommend Mephisto Helen for fit, quality and style. I've worn these sandals and this style for many years and they are the absolute best. Comfortable right out of the box.This is my second pair of sandals and I love them. They are made by Mephisto and are terrific! My first pair I’ve had for at least 10 years and I’m still wearing them. They are pricey, but you will get you monies worth.Love these sandals!! These are my third pair. I wear this style daily. Hate to wear any other shoe!!The foot bed is typicalOf what you would expect from Mephisto, however the leather upper is so tough , I had blisters on the upper portion of both insteps bu the end of the day . I have severalPairs of sandals and boots I love and never had to “break” in a pair . I will have to try to find something to soften the edges since I have already worn them and cannot return :(Arrived really quicklyStill deciding if I prefer my usual Birkenstock.First couple of days strap across top of foot felt really tight and can only alter strap with the buckle so had to wear them in for few days which I never have to do with BirkenstockThey do seem expensive but previous reviews are good so I'm hoping I've made a good investment for my feet.They feel,sturdy so hopefully should last a long timeSaying this though I do like them, they look good and the foot bed is really comfy.I've worn Helen Mephistos for years and they never fail to impress me. These Helen sandals are comfortable from the first time you put them on; and this pair are a beautiful sky blue colour. I am so pleased I purchased them as they were $100 of the regular price; it was a great buy! I would definitely buy from this Seller again; they came very promptly. I have a narrow foot and these Helen sandals fit like a glove. I would highly recommend these to anyone; I have tried to wear Birkenstocks, but I always feel like I need to "break them in" which usually means very sore, aching and even blistered feet for me; I have never had this issue with Mephistos, perfect fit and comfort every time!
